On View January 14 through March 29, 2025
Copyright issues arise every day--you take a photo; you create a painting; you write an email, or you make a quilt. Each of these creative works is potentially protected by copyright law.
Featuring more than 20 diverse works and illustrations, the Just Wanna Copyright for Makers exhibition presents lessons on copyright that directly relate to quilting and other fiber art. Based on the book of the same name by Sidne K. Gard and Elizabeth Townsend Gard, (C&T Publishing, 2024), it offers valuable lessons and sound guidance on how to protect your own work and avoid potential legal pitfalls.
Elizabeth Townsend Gard is the John E. Koener Endowed Professor of Law at Tulane University Law School and an avid quiltmaker since childhood. She lives in New Orleans, LA.
Sidne K. Gard is a Distinguished Scholar undergraduate at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Managing Editor of Fnewsmagazine. They focus on the translation of legal concepts for artists, quilters and crafters. They live in Chicago, IL.
Signed copies of the authors’ book are available for purchase at the NEQM Store.
